The Democratic primary in state House District 62 is settled with Ty Cobb, brother of resigned Rep. Curt Cobb, as the only candidate qualifying for the special election to fill the seat.
On the Republican side, there are four candidates, reports the Shelbyville Times-Gazette:
Joseph Byrd of Unionville, Pat Marsh of Shelbyville, Bobby Scott of Shelbyville and Casey Walters of Fayetteville. Chris Brown of Shelbyville has qualified for the general election as an independent.
Candidates can change their mind and withdraw until July 23. The primary election day is Aug. 27 and the general election is Oct. 13.
