Sampler of More Stuff on Stanley

A.C.Kleinheider reports that state Sen. Paul Stanley, back in 1994, had a court restraining order filed against him by his first wife, who he allegedly abused verbally and physically. Also, he met his second and current wife while he was working in Sen. Bill Frist’s office and she was, too – as an intern.

Rick Locker reports on a Sen. Paul Stanley telling a group from Planned Parenthood on the day before he became embroiled in an extortion attempt over his sexual relationship with an intern that young women should not have sex before marriage.

State Rep. Stacey Campfield, R-Knoxville, has a ‘quote of the day’ on the Stanley affair posted on his blog: “Well, I guess this is just more proof, Republicans are clearly irresistible to females.”

Campfield also indicates some sympathy for Stanley, declaring calls for the senator’s resignation “out of hand.” Further:

To his credit, he went above what many would do and called the cops when being shaken down. I am sure he knew when he did, that it would come out and it would not be pretty. He stood up to the blackmailer and did the right thing anyway. A lesser person would have caved, given the money and hoped it never came out.”

The Stanley situation inspired blogger Terry Frank to reminiscence about her days as a legislative intern and to do some Internet research on McKensie Morrison, creating a suspicion that Morrison had been married, perhaps to a man who went to prison.

Another lady blogger laments the attack on Morrison by lady blogger Frank and declares this shows there should be some women reporters at the state capitol. (Not sure I follow the logic there.)

Phil Williams, reporter for WTVF in Nashville, denies that he’s the reporter who supposedly offered $7,500 for the nude pictures of Morrison to the extortion suspect.
